This time São Paulo Tours visits São José dos Campos, a city in the way between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. SJC is known for the aeronautical industry, because it is home of ITA and Embraer. Everything started in the 50's, when general Casimiro Montenegro set-up a place for developing aeronautical engineering in Brazil. Today ITA is one of the most respected engineering university and one of the few which includes the aeronautical course. Embraer is the 3rd airplane manufacturer in the world, known for its regional jets ERJ145, 170 and 190 as well as its military aircrafts.
These are military combat airplanes AMX and A-4 Skyhawk.
In the month of August happens an event dedicated to aviation. It is called Semana da Asa (week of the wing). During this week there are a lot of aircraft exhibitions and air shows.
These are the Super Tucano and the squad of Tucanos of the worldwide known Esquadrilha da Fumaça.
